If you have spelling errors, and the Check Story or Check Document dialog appears, you can hold down the command key when closing the dialog window (such as clicking Cancel, or typing command-.), and the original function (Save, or Print, etc.) will be activated even though you document did not pass the spelling check.

SpellCheck XT adds several menu items to the QuarkXPress Check Spelling menu under the Utilities menu.
Check the item "Display Word Count" for the Word Count dialog to be displayed during spell-checking, otherwise the dialog will go away by itself.
The remaining items can be selected to force spell-checking just prior to the activity. For example, selecting "Check Document before Saving" will cause the document to be spell-checked before it is saved. If there are any offending words, the document will not be saved until they are corrected (or you turn off the Check before Saving function).
The SpellCheck XT menu selections will be saved uniquely for each document.
